In this video, Betty purchases herbs for planting outside, and then plants them in her herb garden. A few of our herbs that were planted last year survived the winter, so Rick and I had chives, tarragon, thyme, sage, and a few ornamental plants to start with. We went to Lowe’s in Richmond and purchased curly parsley, flat parsley, oregano, basil, mint, rosemary, dill, cilantro, onion chives, a couple of tomato plants, a green bell pepper plant, a red bell pepper plant, and 2 hot pepper plants. We planted the herbs and vegetables on April 21 (two weeks ago), and they have been growing nicely since then. We did lose the two hot pepper plants very quickly to rabbits, so we may replace those, but they will have to be protected from the rabbits! We reorganized the ornamental plants a bit, moving a hosta plant to an empty spot in front of our azaleas in our landscaping around the house. I will be uploading a recipe using some of the herbs from our herb garden soon! I hope this video is helpful to you, if you are planning an herb garden. It is a lot of fun! –Betty
